I was fortunate enough to retire at 55 from CBSA September 16, 2020, after 35 years of service. Most of my years of service were spent at Vancouver International Airport (VIA). During my tenure at VIA, I worked both Traffic and Commercial Operations, as well as Air Side and Special Enforcement Operations. In 1992, while working at VIA I was selected to be the dog handler for the pilot project of the Passive Response Detector Dog, and I worked with DDS Reefer primarily at VIA over the following three years. I was also a National Trainer for Contraband Enforcement Training, Roving and In Service delivering courses in various ports across the country.
I love to travel, and the industry has always interested me. The year before I retired, I was offered the opportunity to work with Travel Best Bets as a ‘Connected Agent’. This ‘second career’ is the perfect fit for me. As I am essentially my own boss I work from home and set my own hours. This allows me to keep busy while giving me the freedom and flexibility to take off and go on some amazing extended journeys.
